Jan has helped me with positioning myself in a new role within the organization in the material handling industry that I am working for. This was a transition from a operational oriented role of executing improvement projects towards advising in tactical and strategic decisions with respect to sales and execution of process improvement services.
As a mentor, Jan was able to help me with setting both business objectives and personal goals and he advised me in taking the right steps to reach these goals. Jan’s experience with working in different layers of the organization and with customers all over the world helped me to choose a strategy for increasing the visibility of myself in the new role. This included selecting and involving the right stakeholders to initiate changes in the organization or to build work-relations. Also Jan stimulated me in asking feedback from these stakeholders in order to further improve the approach.
The sessions that I have had with Jan have always been a safe place to share the challenges that I faced during this process and ideas I had about it. Jan was understanding my situation and by sharing his thoughts we were able to end each session with concrete actions that I could put into practice in order to further develop myself in my new role.
